After meeting I call Tom from my car in Hall parking lot ans sing Happy Birthday to him; plus I let him know we will be down to see him this afternoon instead of this morning. Home and check e-mail and news sites with girls and Fritos. Talk to Beth. Work at computer for awhile; then into living room to watch Entourage while I have an early lunch. Talk to Beth; then down for nap. Up and check e-mail. Tom left cell phone message. Out to get mail - and neighbor's mail. Feed girls. Beth calls and she by to pick me up and we by Tommy's house; then on to nursing home where we spend an hour talking with Tommy. We home and eat. She office while I clean up; then to TV and watch recording of today's Glen Beck Show. Later ~

Sleep in day. Beth up and off to Hall. I up 5:45: shower and dress; check e-mail and news sites while girls still sleep. Make breakfast and eat with paper and girls who are now up - I wonder why? Trim beard. Beth home. Rest for a minute or two. Then she start in on mopping floors while I get pill boxes set for her. Call Tommy to tell him what channel golf is on. To office and send Tom Blixa some info on me for next Sunday's radio interview. I fix lunch and we eat. She starts on pills; I down for nap with girls. Up and feed girls. We get ready and take off for Tommy's house where we pick up some more stuff; then on to nursing home to see Tommy. He's a little more with it every day - getting better. We talk for awhile and get more info from him; then we drive home, picking up some orange chicken on the way. Home and we eat. Gotta fix a bandage on my arm again, To office with her. Later ~

Squeeked through Another One

While I was getting ready to go to the meeting, I got a call on my cell phone from Tommy, who is now at the nursing home in Palm Springs. He wanted to let me know that he would be at his regular dialysis place. I told him we'd get by after the meeting. He was in good spirits and somewhat mentally competent. A far cry from 14-hours earlier when seen at Eisenhower. We assume he's been taken off some of the heavy medication.
Grocery Shopping after meeting then home to unload, unpack, and put away. Check e-mail and news sites with girls and Fritos. Beth home. She stopped to see Tommy and we will go see him this pm after he's back the nursing home. Make some lunch and we eat. I to office. Then I down for nap with girls. Up and bring in mail. It's at least 116 outside. She open mail and I feed girls. I to computer for a minute; then we take off. Pick up some prescriptions; then stop at Tom's house and pick up a few things for him. On to his new residence: a nursing home in Palm Springs. We stayed and talked to him for awhile; met his room mate, Joe. And Beth got a new list of things he needs from house and hospital. Beth and I stop at Weinerschnel on way home for dinner. Home and I have ice cream. To office to check e-mail and send a e-mail to Tom Blixa - I'm doing a radio show interview show for him next Sunday. Get ready for bed while she showers. Later ~

Stop and shop IC on way home from meeting. Check e-mail and news sites with girls and small snack. Work at computer trying to pull together Tommy's hospital stays this year - four total, including present, Talk to Beth. Move into living room and start watching The Kissing Bandit, with Frank Sinatra and Katherine Grayson. Call Hoy as that was his first picture. Watch some more TV while I eat with girls on floor beside me. Talk to Beth. Down for nap with girls. Up and open mail; feed girls. Move into office and work. Clean up side yard; sweep floors. Beth picks me up and we to hospital to visit Tommy. He's somewhat more aware today. Talk to his nurse then say good bye. Home and Beth calls Rick Mesa while I make some salads. We eat. I to office and work at computer; Beth follows. Later ~

Tommy Snow Report: Beth and I got to see Tommy today after his dialysis. He was very tired but he still recognized us with a faint smile. He's in a brace; not a cast. They put some plates in to hold the shattered bone in place. He refuses pain pills. He's much calmer the nurse reports.
Switch cars with Beth so I can drive girls to groomer later. On home where I check e-mail and news sites with girls, pretzels, and peanuts. Leash 'em up and down to groomer. Leave them with Marchelle; by Tony's and put some air in Beth's tires. Home, Work at computer; watch Rush on 24/7. Call Jimmy George and we talk about old Hollywood restaurants - specifically Nicodell's by Paramount and Desi-lu. Marchelle calls and girls are done (11:30). Pick them up and bring them home. Eat some lunch while watching the end of Melviln Purvis: G-Man. Down for nap with girls. We up and I bring in mail. Open mail and take meds. Feed girls - they both clean their plates, Sweep floors. Beth calls and wants to pick me up then go hospital. She home and we drive over to hospital. Tommy still in dialysis and we talk to his nurse and wait. We are able to see Tommy; though he's very tired and looks very beat up, Stay for 5-minutes or so then leave. Home and we eat snack dinner and ice cream. Beth reports in to Rick with Tommy info. We both to office; then she showers. Later ~

Tommy Report: He's still acting combative and trying to pull out IVs. We know he'll never remember any of this when it's over; this is just how he acts under certain medications. Norman Foster was able to talk to him last night but Tom was just swearing and fighting the world; and he didn't say anything sensible. He was able to dialyze yesterday. Rick Mesa just called with info that surgery was done today.
Home from meeting and check e-mail and news sites with girls and pretzels and peanuts. Talk to Beth. Turn on Rush and watch web cam of show on Rush 24/7 while working on a few other things. Try calling Jimmy George, no luck. Call Bobby Hoy and talk for a minute or two. Move into living room and watch the end of a movie. Watch an interview with Angela Landsbury while I eat lunch. Down for nap with girls. Up and bring in mail. Meds. Feed girls; and open mail for Beth. Into office to work on a few things. Beth home and we unload. Fix her a quick dinner as she has an H&I meeting at 6:00. She off; I watch O'Reilly. Move to office to answer some e-mail. Beth home. We talk politics while I eat my ice cream cone. To office and show her a video then she showers. Get ready for bed. Later ~

Sit and talk over lemonade and Dr. Pepper. I fix dinner while she works in office. We eat - she fills me in on day's events. She thinks Tom got dialysis today. Tom Snow is not doing well at all. He's combative; angry; and now they've had to tie him down. His right femur is shattered - they don't want him moving around. They weren't able to operate today because of his condition.
Leave early for blood draw. To PD Post Office on way home to mail some answers to Tom Weaver. Home and check e-mail and news sites with girls. Talk Beth. Talk to Jimmy George for awhile. To living room and watch end of The Saint in Palm Springs with George Saunders. Have lunch while viewing show. Afterward down for nap. Up and bring in mail. Have lunch while viewing movie. Beth home and I cut it short and set recorder. She inside and we talk. She on phone with Theresa Livers regarding beads. I try Tommy one more time and find out he's still sleeping. I down for nap with girls. Up and check e-mail. Feed girls. Try Tommy again and still no answer. Talk with Beth - we'll drive over in awhile. To hospital and Tommy is still sleeping. We talk to his nurse and get more info. His right femur bone is shattered pretty bad; she showed us the X-rays. He will have surgery tomorrow and won't be back in action for quite awhile. We left a note; went to car and she called Rick while I ordered pizza. Pick up pizza on way home. We up around 6:00 - she moves quick so she can be out there to open the banks on registration and souvenirs. I call Bobby Hoy in hospital. He'll come home then back on Thursday for operation on his arm. I out a few minutes later and we go to breakfast together. Hi to lot of passers by. She goes on with her treasurer's duties while I pull things together in room. Call bell boy and take stuff to car. Beth is having some trouble with someone so I send Bob Norman to watch over things. Drive home. Hi to LeRoy and greeted by girls and Bella. He leaves. I check e-mail. Call Tommy. Fall asleep in office chair. Up and later on Beth calls. She by and picks me up and we to Cat City Mexican joint to have committee luncheon. We sit with Grippis. Home and unpack. She works a lot on cleaning up her treasurer's stuff. I work at computer. No dinner but we do have half of an ice cream sandwich together. Hoped to get to bed early but will settle on a quarter past eight. She showers and climbs in even later. Later ~

MDD Banquet and Golf luncheon





Alarm was set wrong and she's late. Scrambles to get dressed and off to golf course. I up and shower. Dress and get ready. Out to hall and stop t restaurant where I join Patricia and David Drury for breakfast. Putz around and talk for awhile with Michelle as she and Beth are back until end of golf. They leave and I to room. On way back to convention, stop in restaurant and have lunch with George Guyer, His wife Candy, and Bill White. After lunch I talk with people then back to room for nap. Up and out to say hi to a few. Call Tommy. He' arrives in a half. We talk and bullshit. I to room to change clothes right after Beth has changed. We all wait for banquet doors to open then it's inside for eats. Speaker is Clancy. I to room and bed when it's all over. Beth in later and she leaves TV on. Later ~

By her place of employment after meeting and switch out cars. She needs Expedition to carry stuff to Convention. She finishes work early and she to hotel. I home and when it's time I meet Tom Snow and Norman Foster st Goodies for lunch. Home and dessert. Beth by to get mail and take off for hotel. I down for nap. Up and LeRoy here and I dress and get ready. By to girls then off to hotel and convention. Stuff to room then meet up with Beth and watch early registration. Dinner wirh Trish and Don and his daughter and her infant. P.M. - More registering and getting ready for opening meeting. I to room and bed early. Called Hoy earlier and call Tommy. Preparing for Maad Dog Daze AA Convention

Sleep in day. Pain is worse. Beth up and off to Hall. I drag myself out of bed and shower and dress. Breakfast with paper and girls. trim beard. Beth home and Eric by for drill. First thing she does is my pill boxes. Afterward, she's on phone and computer while I sit around feeling like shit (poor me). Turn on golf and fix some lunch and we eat watching the game. Sherry Preiss over so I down for my nap with girls. They work in kitchen catching up on Maad Dog Daze stuff. I up and feed girls. Call Tom Snow; James Jensen; Bob Hoy; and Dave Cass. Girls are still working in kitchen so I stay in office and watch youtube. Ween they all leave and it's once more quiet, I start fixing dinner. Eventually we eat and talk. Then it's a shower for her; some e-mailing for me. She reads Sunday paper while I hit the hay early (with still a lot of pain). Later ~
