I forgot to mention that yesterday was Gene Autry's 100th birthday. I slept in today and Beth went to Hall. Up and eat with paper. Sheila Ingram passed away - we saw it in paper and Beth called Bob later in the day with our condolences. She home after hall; She dusts, etc. while I work at computer. Make lunch and we eat. Golf on TV - call Uncle George and we are able to talk to him. Off to Palm Springs after noon, and do one final hour at Republican Women's Federation Convention. Home; she off to steering committee meeting, and I down for hour nap. She home and we talk. Fix dinner and we eat. Then it's recorded TV time - two o-shows back to back, plus the tail end of a salute to Gene Autry on the Western Channel. Here and write this. Later ~

Grocery shopping after meeting then home and unload. To computer and work a little. Drop off old fax machine at Burtech. Home; Beth home. Make lunch and we eat. I down for nap - she mops floors. Up and feed girls. Get changed and we off to second day of republican Women's Federation Convention in Palm Springs. I sign books and Beth meets the others and shops. Paula Cusack there and we talk. Pick up Papa Dan's pizza on way home; and eat once we get there. Tina's daughter Melissa had her gall bladder removed today. Call rest home and leave message for Uncle George. Both to office. Pick up Edie's mail and to post office after meeting. Home and go right to bed for an hour's nap. Up and work in office. Then make lunch and eat with TV. More in office then get dressed and drive to Palm Springs Convention Center for the Republican Women's Convention where I'm signing my books for the Rancho Mirage chapter. See Pauline Cusack; and meet many more people. I had two fans from Minnesota who bought books and had their pictures taken with me. Take some tostadas home for dinner. Call and leave message for Uncle George. Talk Harry. I write here - then we're going to watch a TV show I recorded last night. Later ~

Hamburgers today at Garner Ranch

Home directly after meeting and continue inserting photos and text for Behind the Scenes book. Trouble with bank continues and Beth calls me several times. Drive up the mountain to Garner Ranch where I meet Bill Sasser from Williamsburg who is here with more Western fans - we are met at the ranch house by Meg, who lives in the old house - and her sister, a friend, and her 88-year old father, Jack Garner. Jack was the center of attention as he was around when many movies were filmed at the ranch. The ladies have made hamburgers for the group and we eat. Meg shows me around the ranch, her house, and another old house. I say good-bye and drive down the mountain. Beth has had luck with banking. I back to inserting. Beth home; we talk, She's been to a city council meeting and will be off to one this evening. Call and leave message at Uncle George's rest home. I put out trash; write here, then hit the hay. Straight home after meeting and with the help of some popcorn, I dive back into inserting both picture and text into my Behind the scenes book. Talk to Beth a few times. Stop for lunch and a Gene Autry movie "Twilight on the Rio Grande." Down for nap. Up and feed girls. Back to book and get a lot accomplished. Beth home and i start dinner. Banking problems on Uncle George account, and she on phone through dinner. She off to H&I meeting; and I back to office to work on book some more. Call Uncle George's rest home and leave message. Call Bill Sasser - I'm meeting him and a group from Williamsburg tomorrow. She'll be back in a while. Later ~

Haircut after meeting - Mail CSTO! to Vine. Radio Shack for battery for Hall phone. Home; snack and check e-mail. Start in on Behind the Scenes; then she calls and I drive to her place of employment to pick up faxes regarding Uncle George, then take them home and fax them off. More work on BTS. Lunch and some TV. Down for nap. Up and feed girls, Back to work on BTS - inserting photos and text. Beth home and we eat. Leave message at Health Care place for Uncle George. Then we both into office where she works on Uncle George stuff while I insert photos into another complete chapter. Uncle George's neighbor calls saying they got mail - they will mail it to Beth. Stop for gas after meeting then home. Check e-mail; then call Tony Brubaker and apologize for something that happened years ago. Nice talking to him again. We'll stay in touch from now on. Out to jewelers and drop Beth's ring for repair; drop Bette's guitar for repair, and new strings. Home and eat and TV. Down for nap. Up and feed girls. Sweep. Work on Behind the Scenes book for a while. Make contact with company in Santa Monica who want to see CSTO! - then package a book for mail tomorrow a.m. Get trash ready for tomorrow pick up. Beth home; we eat. Call Uncle George and leave message because he can't have a phone because he's in isolation. Both of us to office. She's looking forward to premier of Dancing with the Stars tonight even though she's totally exhausted from working on George stuff plus her own work. Later ~

Sleep in day for me. Beth up early and to Hall. I up 6:30 - shower and check e-mail. Breakfast and paper. Sweep. Beth home and starts on floors. I computer for a while; do some chores she has for me. Make sandwich for her lunch. I down for nap early. Up at 2:30 and feed girls. Beth working on pulling Uncle George's stuff together - Try to call Uncle George but since he's in isolation that is impossible - we tell them to say hi. I continue to help Beth with faxing and copying. I fix dinner end we eat. Both to office. Insert one photo today. She shower early and to bed. I putz around. Later ~

To Hall with Beth for chores only and a donut. Home for a minute then we take off for Glendale-Burbank. RAIN on way - HEAVY at times. To Bank; post office; Uncle George's house; then on to Burbank Health Care to see Uncle George. Stay for a while - he talks to lady from bank. POURS down Rain while we are there. Start home early - 1:45 - through the rain again and finally home at 3:10 p.m. Unload and say hi to girls. Talk Bobby Hoy for a minute - then fix dinner and we eat. Leave meeting early with Beth. She off to her work; I home, then to bank and get name corrected on document I signed yesterday. Home and into Behind the Scenes book - inserting photos and text captions. Meet Debra Hobbs and give her my book posters; then on to Palm Desert and meet guys at Elephant Bar for lunch. Home and ice cream; then down for nap. Up and feed girls. Beth is spending most of her days collecting info and documents on Uncle George so we can get him into the Motion Picture Home. Sweep; then back to work on BTS book. Wrap it up when she gets home. Cook and we eat. Try call Uncle George at hospital, but he's being transferred back to Burbank Health Care. Call the BHC and he's just arrived and we were asked to call later when he's settled. Both of us to office; then we'll try him again in a half an hour. Later ~

Stop for hearing aid batteries, then post office after meeting. Home and start right in on inserting photos and captions. By Beth's place of employment and pick her up - we to Sam's Club to shop for Hall and ABC Club. Take hot-dogs back to her work and have lunch together. I by bank to get a document authorised. Home and some ice cream. Down for nap. Up and GOP lady calls about book signing next week - Fred and Lynn (Behler Pub) is sending a slew of books. Back to computer and continue with photo insertions. Beth home. I take her car for gas. Home and we eat. Talk to sister Shannon. We'll call Uncle George later. Later ~

Home early, then back to Office Depot to exchange the file box I bought for Beth yesterday. Back to house and dive into Behind the Scenes book - inserting photos and text. Lunch and a Gene Autry movie. Mail - CD from Ben Costello of Stage 3 Gunsmoke dodge City Street for book. Down for nap. Up and feed girls. Sweep. Back to computer and more on book. Found a web site that was showing Byron Quisenberry's movie and e-mailed him about it. He answered shortly saying he'd put his lawyers on it and the site had immediately dropped the movie. Continue with book. GOP lady calls and is ordering my books from Behler for the bid shindig a week from now. Beth home and we eat. Talk Uncle George. Beth off to Banning jail to take meeting to inmates. I talk Tom Snow. Beth will be in late, Later ~

At the Autry

Stop at Office Depot on way back from meeting; then on to post office and mail something for Beth related to Uncle George. Gas up and home. To computer and continue with Behind the Scenes book - inserting photos and text. Noon, watch the rest of Byron Quisenberry's movie, "Hollywood: A Dog's Life." I enjoyed it. Down for nap. Up and feed girls. Measure length of yard from back to front for fence Beth is getting. Back inside and hit the computer again with more inserting, etc. Beth home around 4:30 and I cook and we eat. Call John Livers (my birth father) in Montana. To office and we try call Uncle George. He'd having supper - we'll call back in a half an hour. Later ~

Grocery shopping after meeting (left early) - then to post office and home. Call and set up pickup for old monitor; dive into Behind the Scenes Book again and insert new photos of Roy's gun-belt; change a few photos, then on to Duchess and the Dirtwater Fox chapter and Sundance Woman chapter. Stop for lunch and watch some of "Two Rode Together" on Western Channel. Down for nap. Up and feed girls. Back to computer and do some text boxes. Monitor is picked up by delivery company. More on book. Byron sent me a DVD of his new movie, "Hollywood: A Dog's Life." Start watching it. Beth home; she to office. I fix dinner. We eat. She doing George stuff, talks to his lawyer. I sleep in while she goes to hall. Up and breakfast and paper. Sweep for her. Beth home and mops tile. I do some Xeroxing for her - some of Uncle George's documents that will bet him into the Motion Picture Home. Early lunch with Beth; then I to computer and catch up on things. Feed girls, then down for nap 2:30 - Beth is having a Maad Dog Daze meeting with former chairmen to discuss things. I up and stay in office until her meeting is over at 6:15. Cook and eat; then we call Uncle George - he's feeling good. I tell him about putting his photo on blog yesterday. Both of us to office and we'll be off to bed sooner than you think. Later ~

To hall and do chores - have a donut and we home. Pack it up and Beth and I off for Glendale and Van Nuys. At Uncle George's house we collect paperwork he needs to get into Motion Picture Home. Have lunch; make copies (we took our personal Xerox machine). Then off to Van Nuys and Valley Presbyterian Hospital to see Uncle George, He's not great but he sure looks better. We talk awhile and Beth and he talk about the business affairs we're helping him with. Leave late - after four. Home just before eight - big wreck held us up for a while; as did the LA Fair traffic. Stop by Beth's place of employment, then home. Move Xerox machine back into house. She shower. We're hitting the hay now - exhausted! Later ~

By bank after meeting to do a deposit. Home and hi to dogs as well as check e-mail. Out at 9:00 to get dog food and home. Phone call from Michael Kouri - we talk for an an hour as he interviews me for his book. Will talk again Monday. Debby Hobbs from Women's Republican group calls about books. I to Chinese place to meet Harry, Norman, and Tom for lunch. Debby by and i give her both books to check out. Then we all off to the movies"3:10 to Yuma." Good movie - I looked at is a new picture and didn't compare it to the old one with Glenn Ford. Home and feed girls. Gardeners trimming trees. Do a few things for Beth. She home and we eat. Dick Warlock calls and he's heading back from the LA area tomorrow just as we will be heading in the opposite direction on our way to George's house and on to visit Uncle George in the hospital (he's still in ICU). We're going to try and call George in as bit, and hope he will be all right to talk to. Later ~

By post office on way home from meeting and drop both books off for Larry Welsh. Home quick then to Beth's place of employment and we to airport to pick up Geo Tracker and take it home. I home. Watch some of the DVDs Bill Sasser sent. FedEx delivery - my new screen is here - fast, huh? Spend an hour setting it up, then down for nap. Up and feed girls. Mail. Back to office and continue setting up monitor. Repackage old one to send back. Work on Behind the Scenes book a little, then she home. Uncle George is in ICU again and nurse wouldn't tell Beth anything. Cook and eat; then I call ICU nurse - she talks to me: George is stable - he was short of breath and one of his shunts got infected. Resting quietly now and we asked nurse to say hello from us. Later ~

September 11th and 12th

Yesterday the 11th my brand new Dell monitor took a dump. i haven't been able to do much but check e-mail using my wife's computer. I mostly read, TV, usual nap, and feed the girls daily. Things will get back to normal in a couple of days when the replacement monitor arrives. Please have patience. I'm trying to.

Beth calls and we are invited to have dinner with her employers' pilot. They by to pick me up and we to Papa Dan;s for Italian food. Drop him and home. Call Uncle George. Beth showers and I take out trash. Later ~

Grocery shopping after meeting, then take long way around to home because they're re-surfacing Hwy 111 and there is no left turn into the cove where I live. She's out getting her nails dome when I get home so after I unload groceries, I move picture box out of office and put it back into storage shed; then I unload cement blocks from car and wheel them into side yard. After that I sweep ho use so she can mop tile; then work some on BTS book. Beth home and we eat lunch. She to her place of employment as they have guests arriving. I down for nap. Up and feed girls. Beth does my pill boxes. I to office and insert more captions. Beth back to her place of employment. When she gets home we'll eat, then we'll call Uncle George. Later ~

Slept in while Beth went to hall. Up, eat, and paper. She home and we drive in to LA to see Uncle George at Valley Presbyterian Hospital, where he's in ICU after undergoing bypass surgery. Talked for about an hour. Drove home and stopped for Tostada. Home, e-mailed my brother, Bob. Now it's off to bed. Later ~

Grocery shopping after meeting then home and unload. Pull Beth's car into garage. Computer and work on gathering more photos through e-mails and calls. Called hospital and found out Uncle George had bypass surgery. We were able to talk to him for a few minutes. Talked to Ben Costello who published the Gunsmoke coffee table book and he's going to send me some photos. Lunch with Beth then more work on book. Down for nap. Up and feed girls. Then back to work on inserting Pioneertown Chapter photos. Stop for dinner, then continue. Beth to shower, so I will shut down now. Later ~
