With Sister Shannon on her Birthday
On Tuesday, October 16, Beth and I got up and took off for Austin, Texas. We made it to Las Cruces, NM the first day; then to Fredericksburg, TX the second day. On Thursday the 18th - Sister Shannon's birthday and my transplant anniversary - we continued on toward Austin, stopping to take a tour of the Johnson Ranch, near Johnson City, Tx. On to Austin and we stay in motel so we won't mess up the surprise. Change and Conrad, Shannon's husband, picks us up and we to a nice restaurant where we wait and wait, and wait. Finally all show up and we were, indeed, a surprise for Shannon. Birthday dinner and cake; then they - Shannon and Conrad, drive us back to our hotel. The next day we move to their house where we stayed until last Monday. While there we were treated royally and met their friends and family. Out to eat a few times; in to eat. Talk and TV. Shannon and Beth shopped 'til they dropped on Sunday, then we took off early on Monday, spending the first night in Demming, NM. Today, we got up early and headed for home. Stopping several times for food and gas, we got home around 2:00 p.m. Girls were excited to see us as were we excited to see them. Bye to our dog sitter, LeRoy. Then it was unload and unpack. I tried a short nap and got up. Fed girls. Out for pizza; eat; check news for fires for first time. In here to write this. Later ~
