Grocery shopping after meeting.Home and take in and put away. Check e-mail and news sites with girls quickly - as I'm almost immediately off to get toes done. Home and work at computer. Beth had an 11:00 o'clock nail appointment. She by at a little after 12:00 and we drive to Indio and Leather Plus - where a radio show is going on; a little publicity event. Pizza was gone so we had salad. Talk to Joel for awhile then we drive home by 2:00. I down for nap with girls. Up at 4:00. Brought in mail earlier. She fed girls. I to office with her and we both work awhile. She does my pill boxes. I make dinner around 5:30 and we eat. After dinner she stuffs envelopes while I clean up dishes. Both to office. Later ~

Stop at Nader's to gas up. He's busy so I talk to his daughter. Home and check e-mail and news sites with no snack do no girls. Brenda here and she begins cleaning with my office. I putz at dining room table with new laptop - e-mailing web sites that didn't transfer to my desk top. When office is available, I check the e-mail I sent myself and transfer those web sites to my desk top. Around 10:45 I go to kitchen to make some lunch. Brenda is almost finished. Watch recording of Lawman and an Eddie Dean western, Tornado Range while eating. Brenda leaves. I down for nap. Up and bring in mail; feed girls; open mail for Beth. Clean side yard. Work in office for awhile. Beth home early. Around 5:00 we get ready and drive to Ruth/Chris Steak House where we meet Theresa and Steve Grippi. We have a wonderful time. Home around 8:00 - get ready and to bed. Later ~

Stop at Vons after meeting for mini-drumsticks. Home and open e-mail with popcorn and girls. Listen to beginning of Rush. Beth calls. Call Jimmy George and talk for minute or two. Work at computer. Into living room around 10:00 and watch episode of Lawman, with John Russell and Peter Brown. Sean calls to say he's behind so we reset appt for three o'clock this afternoon. Watch old Lash LaRue, Fuzzy Q. Jones PRC western. Down for nap with girls. Up and bring in mail; feed girls; open mail for Beth. Sean here and he works on new lap top - adding Beth's and my AOL accounts. He also replaces my keyboard. He leaves and I start to do chores. Beth home as I'm cleaning up side yard. Help her unload and we sit inside and have cool drinks together. Head over to P.F. Chang's for Beth's birthday dinner. Home for mini-drumstick dessert. Both to office and work. Later ~

Stop to see Nader and his daughter on way home from meeting. Finally home and check e-mail and news sites with girls, peanuts, and pretzels. Surf around for awhile - Start listening to Rush. Then I drive to pet store and get dog food for girls. Bring in home and dump it in garbage can. Microwave guy here to install new oven at 10:20. Jimmy George calls to say hello. Guy (Brett) continues to install the microwave while girls watch. I take some photos. We clean up and he leaves. Work at computer. Into living room and watch episode of Lawman while I eat lunch. Then it's down for nap with girls. Up and bring in mail; feed girls; open mail for Beth. Spend some more time on computer. Clean up side yard; sweep inside tiles. Beth home and I try to microwave dinner and have no luck. We eat chips and dip. Beth off to H&I Meeting. I watch an old Eddie Dean PRC Western. Beth home and she makes phone calls. I work at computer writing here. Later ~

Stop at CVS to pick up birthday card for Beth (July 29th); then home. Cookies to girls then check e-mail with girls and crackerjacks. Talk to Jimmy George. Surf around for awhile. Fed-Ex delivers; call Beth. Move to living room and watch the end of Wichita, with Joel McCrea and Vera Miles - followed by an episode of Lawman, while I eat. Down for quick nap dressed so I don't miss microwave delivery. Up and get mail; feed girls; Open mail for Beth. Sweep inside tiles. Call from delivery guy that he's in Lake Arrowhead and will be a little late. Tell him we'll reschedule. Beth calls with news the guy called her, too. Work at computer for awhile. Beth home and bring her stuff in. She's pissed about microwave - makes calls to Sears, etc. Finally reaches the delivery guy and he'll bring it tomorrow on his day off. Make dinner and we eat. Talk a little. She into office to work. I join her after I clean up dishes. Going to try and watch a recording of Mad Men from the other night. Later ~

Stop at Albertson's to pick up some tea for Beth. On to Office Depot to buy her a cordless mouse. Home and check e-mail and news sites with girls and pretzels. Work on computer until 10:00. Into living room and watch last night's episode of Entourage I recorded. Then two episodes of Lawman while I had lunch. Beth called and checked in. I down for nap with girls. Up and bring in mail; feed girls; open mail for Beth. Clean up side yard. Sweep tiles inside. Start getting trash ready to go out. Back to computer. Got a note from a blog reader, Doug McLeod, who I met at The Festival of the West a few years ago. He is with Bison Homes, a major sponsor of the Festival. He had some Buddy Holly info for me.

Sleep in day. Beth up and off to Hall. I up 5:45: shower, dress, have breakfast while reading paper. Check e-mail and news sites with girls. Beth home and we bring in her stuff. Talk for a short time until she gets busy with her flowers outside. I work at computer until she starts reading paper then I join her. Take a time out and write here on computer. Around 10:30 I start making lunch. Beth and I eat and talk. I down for nap with girls. Up and feed girls. Beth is in office with both chairs in use by her. I watch beginning of Wichita starring Joel McCrea. Beth moves out of office; I move into office and work. After awhile she starts dinner. I help setting up table. We eat dinner and talk. Take some pills. Both to office and work. Later ~

Grocery shopping after meeting. Home and bring everything in and put it away. Snack on animal cookies. Check e-mail with cookies and girls. Beth home. She works in office while i work beside her. We out around 10:00 to get a hot dog but the joint isn't open until 11:00. To Costco and shop; then back to hot dog place for a great hot dog. Home - she to work at kitchen table while I down for nap with girls. Up and bring in mail. Feed girls. Let Beth open the mail. We set up and watch a movie I recorded earlier: The Buddy Holly Story with Gary Busey. A snack dinner after; then we to office and work. She showers while I do research on Buddy Holly. Later ~

Into office and check e-mail and news sites with peanuts and girls. Work all morning on computer. Brenda leaves. I make spaghetti and eat while watching end of McLintock, with John Wayne and Maurene O'Hara. My brother, Bobby, arrives with his friend, Alex. Bob buys all my books for his friend; and they leave. I down for nap with girls. Up and bring in mail. Feed girls. Open (2 pieces) mail for Beth. To office and work. Clean up side yard. Watch beginning of O'Reilly. Beth home. We talk for awhile at table. Cook; she makes salad; and we eat. After, we both to office and work on MDD projects. Later ~

To living room and watch Lawman; followed by Cow Town, with Gene Autry, Gail Davis, and Jock Mahoney. Eat small lunch while viewing the shows. Down for nap with girls. Up and bring in mail; feed girls; open mail for Beth. Clean up side yard. Put out bin. Inside and work at computer the rest of the afternoon. Start getting trash pulled together. Back to computer. Beth home. Help her in with her stuff. When she gets settled, we sit and talk. She makes salmon dinner. We eat. After - some chores then both to office. Later ~

Stop nowhere on way home. Check e-mail and news sites with girls and peanuts. Work at computer for awhile. Meet Beth at Citi Bank to sign some papers; then I to Penny's and pick up a watch for her. On to vacuum shop and get some bags she wanted; then to Sherry's for a haircut. See Mel. Get a Western Bacon Cheeseburger to go and eat in front of TV when I get home, while watching episode of Lawman. Down for nap with girls. Up and bring in mail. Feed girls. Open mail for Beth. Clean up side yard. sweep tile floors. Work some more in office. Beth home. Help her in with her stuff. Sit and talk for a short time. I make dinner and we eat. Both to office and work on our separate projects. Later ~

Up and bring in mail; feed girls; open mail for Beth. To office and work for awhile. Clean up side yard. Sweep inside tiles. Do pills for Beth. Finally she home. Help her unload. We talk; she on phone in office. I make salads. We eat with drumstick ice cream for dessert. We both work around the office and home. Later ~

Putz around on computer then into living room for some TV. Lawman; the beginning of The Honkers. Eat early lunch while viewing. Off to Eisenhower for appointment with Dr. Stone. Beth meets me by elevator. My numbers have gone down and doctor was happy with what's going on with me. Get ironing from Beth and bring it home. Do a few things before going down for nap with girls. Up after an hour's sleep. Bring in mail; feed girls; Open mail for Beth. Clean up side yard. Sweep inside tiles. Jimmy George calls from Mississippi. Write here. Take out trash. Work at compouter until Beth gets home. Help her in. She does some chores; then we sit and talk for awhile. Make dinner - enchiladas. Eat. Both into office to work. She showers. Later ~

Sleep in day. Beth up and off to Hall. I up 5:30. Shower, dress, breakfast with paper and girls. Trim beard and Beth is home. She works on my pill boxes while I open Ferro Sequil box and get pills into bottle. To office and work at computer. Then we get ready and are off to Doral Hotel at 10:30 for Pets-on-Parade luncheon. We sit with Dallas and Rick. Home after - she stops on way to get ice cream for later. Home; check mail, etc. She to MDD Meeting while I nap on couch. Up at 4:15. Freshen up and Bruce and Sharon are here on way back from Tucson Smith & Wesson owners show. I talk with them until Beth gets back with pizza. We talk and eat. They leave and Beth and I watch Hannity Special - not one we thought it'd be but it was good anyway. Get ready; she showers. Later ~

Vivi does my feet while Beth gets both a pedicure and manicure from Becky. I run across to Sam's Club (other direction) and pick up some stuff for us - I buy pair of long pants. To Yellow Basket and wait in car for Beth listening to rerun of Rush. She shows up and we have fish tacos together in Yellow Basket. Both home. Cookies for dessert. She can't find British Open Golf on TV. I down for nap with girls. Up and bring in mail. 112-degrees. Feed our girls. Beth is watching British Open finally. I open mail for her. Clean up side yard. Beth to office to work at computer. I join her. Decide to watch movie early and eat while viewing. Watch Edge of Darkness; a pretty good Mel Gibson thriller. Get ready while she showers. Work at computer. Later ~

115-degrees today.
Already 95-degrees by 8:15 a.m. Stop by Nader's station to gas up and we talk for awhile. Home - Brenda's here cleaning. Wait until she's done with my office and check e-mail and news sites with girls and peanuts. Paul the bug man is here; and the gardeners are hard at work. Work at computer until Brenda says "bye" at 10:45. Fix some lunch and eat while watching Lawman episode and a Buster Crabbe, Fuzzy St. John western. Down for nap with girls. Up and check mail. Feed girls. Open mail for Beth. Spend afternoon at computer. Send note to Gary G. - Note and answer from Norman. Back to computer. Beth home and unloads. I too late to help - no barking. We talk at table over lemonade and ice water. Cook dinner and we eat. After dessert both of us into office and work. Later ~

Talk for awhile with Jimmy George. He talked to GM about SOE. Have some left-over pizza and watch The Singing Vagabond with Gene Autry, Smiley Burnett, and Ann Rutherford. Down for nap with girls. Up and bring in mail. Feed girls. Open mail for Beth. Beth calls and by with meds she just picked up - she's on her way to Sherry's for hair. I write here. Clean up side yard. Work at computer. Beth home. We talk. She office while I cook dinner. We eat. Both to office and work. Later ~

More Texas Trip Pix




We drove up to Hurkey Creek beyond Garner Valley with Brenda. Spent some time at AA Annual Picnic. Saw friends and had a good burger. Home and nap. Up and keep unpacking. Pizza dinner.

June 30th thru July 10th

Back from Texas trip Saturday, July 10.
We took off on June 30th heading for San Antonio, TX. Stopped for the night in Demming, NM and on to SA through a rainstorm caused by a hurricane in the gulf. Checked into The Menger Hotel and unpacked. AA Conventioneers everywhere - green neck band for ID Card around their necks. Picked up my scooter at the convention center and had first glimpse of size of crowd. Had something to eat then bed. On Friday we hung around the convention center and even tried to get into a meeting - full to the brim: we we're told you have to get to these meetings an hour beforehand. Lunch at center with Theresa from Squim. WA. Back to hotel - Try to go to opening meeting which was a mile walk and was turned away because of no more room for scooters on main floor. We figured you had to have been there two or three hours early to get a handicapped place. We went out on the town by ourselves indulging in an ice cream cone. Saturday, because of our previous experiences, we spent the whole day by ourselves; with a tour of The Alamo; a trolly tour with a politically correct driver/guide; early Mexican dinner on the Riverwalk; followed by a boat tour of the Riverwalk. Ice cream for desert while sitting in Alamo Square park across from hotel. Sunday we packed up and left for Austin. Check into motel in Round Rock. Drive over to Shannon's and Conrad's fro meet and greet and dinner. Monday: Beth and Shannon shop in San Marcos while Conrad and I stay home and watch TV. Girls back and we have taco dinner. Tuesday - important thing of day was picking up sister Linda and brother Colin and his Theresa from airport. Dinner together at Snannon's and Conrad's. Wednesday we talked. I don't recall if we went out. Probably did. Thursday we went to a museum in downtown Austin on the UT Campus. Dinner on Lake Travis at a Mexican spot. Friday we take off for home - stop for night in Demming, NM at same motel as always. Saturday we took off early and made it home by 2:00 p.m. - unloaded and unpacked and long nap for me.
