By Office Depot after meeting for Beth then home. Snack and resume working on latest essay. At the same time I copy "My Three Sons" tape to DVD for Shannon, and do the same with "The Honkers" for a guy in New Mexico. Stop for lunch and a few minutes of a Bill Cody Western on TV. Down for nap. Up and feed girls. Sweep. Re-copy "The Honkers" as first one didn't seem to be all there (it was, but I had to reverse it to get to the beginning). Beth home and we eat. Next door neighbors are off to New Mexico and we say our good byes. We went in the pool last night and will probably do the same tonight. Later ~

This is Beth's birthday (now she's my age). Beth up and off to hall by 5:30. I sleep in and up 6:00. Shower and dress, then small cereal so I can eat lunch early with her later. Read paper. Trim beard. Beth home and I sweep and she mops. Then down to TV for Cal Ripkin induction into hall of fame. Lunch, left-over doggy bag contents from yesterday's lunch. I work on my newest essay, then down for nap. She gets some calls including one from Bruce, her brother. I up and feed girls. Work more on essay. A guy from Carlsbad, NM, e-mails me wanting info on tapes and DVDs of "The Honkers". We exchange e-mails. Make dinner and we eat. Call Uncle George. Both of us to pool for first time this summer. Grocery shopping after meeting, then home. Unpack and put away. Help Beth straighten up house. Work at computer for a few minutes. Sister Shannon and husband Conrad drove over from San Diego where they're vacationing. We talk; to lunch at Babe's; take them by Beth's place of employment; drop off something to Sheri Priess; show them Sinatra's home; Anenberg's Estate; Bob Hope's house on hill, then return home. Talk and ice cream, then call John Livers (my birth father) in Montana. He's also Shannon's father. They leave around 4:30 or so to drive back to San Diego. Beth and I relax and talk. After the meeting I stopped at Office Depot to pick up some ink cartridges. Shopped for a card and snack, then I drove home. Continued working on formatting my Behind the Scenes book. Stopped at 11:00 and drove over to Mimi's Restaurant to meet Harry Baddley, Tom Snow, and George Widman for lunch. Home, and after a little more work, I took a nap. Up and fed girls. Sweep; and Beth gets home from work early. We talk for a while then she changes and takes off for her pool therapy. I start on my Wyoming Cowboy essay while I'm waiting for her to get back so we can have dinner. I wanted to include a few more stories in the BTS book so I thought I'd better get started. Later ~

Home after meeting and jump right in to BTS project. Start working on formatting each chapter the same. E-mail from Jerry with more suggestions plus info that he'll have some time now to help me. E-mail from Bill Sasser - he's bringing some people from the east coast to Southern California to see old Western movie locations and asked if I will meet him and his group at Pioneertown on August 9th. Withdrew from another commitment on same day and said I'd be there. Took Beth's old clothes to Southwest Thrift store, then pharmacy and by her place of employment for a minute. She's not feeling well because of the heat and humidity. Home, eat, TV Western (Buck Jones) on Western Channel, then down for nap. Up and feed girls. Sweep. Beth home early, tired. We talk. Today I received some sound advise about formatting a book on Word - something I really don't know anything about. Home after meeting to e-mail from Jerry with suggestions and my sample chapter re-formatted in a way completely different than I had it. Started to play around with doing my version the same way but had to go pick up Beth and we went to Sam's Club to exchange some paper towels for the hall. Hot-dogs to go and we eat at her place of employment. I home and work some more on BTS project, then down for nap. Not much sleep - up and feed girls. Call Uncle George. Back to re-formatting but to almost no avail. E-mailed Jerry again and haven't received an answer back as of yet. Beth home and we eat. She to H&I meeting. Work at computer then off to Sam's Club to shop for hall and us. Pick up a Maad Dog Daze book for Beth that a friend left at the Betty Ford Center. Phone call from hospital: Uncle George is being moved to a nursing home today. Call a few people then call George. He seems to be OK with the move. Tape Joey English Show today; Send Hushup to Shutoff Switch Media Group - After meeting I take Beth to her place of employment and drop her off. I home, check e-mail, change into Western garb then drive to CBS Studio in Thousand Palms. Do Joey English Show - it airs next Monday and Tuesday the 16th and 17th of July. Pick up tostadas on way home and lunch with Beth who has been to doctor (Sue took her). I down for nap; she follows. Up and feed girls. I have letter to the editor in newspaper:

Cut off the help now
In regard to the July 1 Valley Voice written by Larry Gibson ("Hollering and anger not fixing immigration").
He asks, "What would you do if your country was so corrupt you couldn't make a living or support your family?" He follows by saying he'd "be over that border in a flash," if it was him.

Now I ask, don't these lawbreakers have any love for their own country? Have they given up the thought of revolution? Gibson also says that these (illegal) Hispanics are here to stay and that we should "just as well accept that and shelve the intolerance," which, according to him is "find them, jail them, then kick them out."

He summarizes by saying he has no magic bullets that might solve this problem. Well how about this one? Cut off all welfare and hospital care to any person who cannot prove they are a citizen of the United States of America.

Then follow that up by passing a law that says a baby born to a noncitizen is not automatically awarded citizenship.

Brought Beth home after meeting, then dropped her off at her place of employment. I take her employers' van to car wash, then to Pier One to pick up chairs we bought yesterday. Home and neighbor Ron helps me move and load chairs. Back to her employers' place, pick her up and home, Lunch, then I off to Indio for monthly Conservative Round table Lunch. Celebrated Bill White's 20th birthday today. After, to her place of employment and she checks messages while I start cars. Home. She keeps busy while I work at computer cleaning up latest essay. We have lunch together then back to computer and post essay on Author's den and send it to friends. Down for nap with her. Up and feed girls while she continues to nap. She up, then we to hall for hot dogs and beans. Stay for clean up (she couldn't help herself); then home for ice cream; call Uncle George; then more time in office. Later ~

Over to pick her up and we're just about out of the gate when some workers show up; so leave her there and back home. I write. To pick her up before noon and we pick up some tostadas. Home and eat. I down for nap while she's at her computer. She finally down for rest as I'm getting up. Feed girl early. Her physical therapist here and they do their thing while I write. Finally finish my essay. We to meeting then home. Drop her off at her place of employment; then drop UPS package, and return cushion to Yes I Can. Home for minute, then to Eisenhower for 10:15 appointment with Dr. Stone. I get good report. Pick up Beth at work and we home. Fix lunch and we eat. I check e-mail then down for nap. She stay up and read. I up and feed girls. I forgot to check at high noon but right now at 7:16 pm, it's still 114 degrees outside. Work on computer all afternoon installing programs. Fix dinner and we eat. Get trash ready to go out tomorrow.
